Lately, I’ve been thinking about how often we talk about change as a big, dramatic leap. “Quit your job!” “Start the business!” “Reinvent your life!” And while those moments are real (and sometimes necessary), they often start somewhere much smaller.
Like five quiet minutes.
That’s what Jennifer Smith and I explored on this week’s episode of Your Radiant Spirit—how something as simple as 5 minutes a day can redirect your entire life.
The Pause That Changes Everything
In my own journey, the pause has been a sacred tool. Whether it was those early mornings in the studio before my HR job, or the sacred stillness before painting a Spirit Portrait, I’ve learned that clarity doesn’t arrive with a megaphone. It arrives when we make space for it.
Jennifer calls it “5 minutes to flourish.” I call it spirit prep—those small rituals or moments where we return to ourselves before the world gets loud.
Why This Matters Now
In both my art and my healing work, I’m seeing it again: people are being invited to shift. Not always by choice. Sometimes by layoff, burnout, or just a soul nudge that won’t go away.
And here’s the connection: Spirit Portraits are changing, too.
They’ve become less about “a pretty energetic painting” and more about creating a sacred pause. A way for someone to see who they truly are—and who they’re becoming. It’s career clarity. It’s energetic insight. It’s soul-level reflection.
Just like Jennifer guides people through thoughtful, values-aligned career shifts, I’m finding myself called to guide people back to their radiant truth. Whether through art, color, or energy work, the message is the same:
✨ You don’t have to leap. But you do have to listen.
So, what does your 5-minute pause look like today?
Is it journaling? Meditating? Sketching? Crying in your car because you just can’t pretend anymore?
Whatever it is, honor it. It’s a seed. And just like every portrait I paint, that small start holds the full blueprint of who you’re here to become.
With love and bold, radiant color,
Heather
